Abstract

Reviews progress of research project set up in Nunavik, northern Quebec, to investigate conditions for proposed airport construction in 12 villages; aim was to gain new regional knowledge on permafrost characteristics, to test new and existing tools for permafrost surveys and to develop suitable methodology for terrain assessment prior to construction activities. Correlation between Quaternary sediments, periglacial landforms, patterned-ground features, and ground-ice types in Nunavik is tabulated
