Abstract
Development of permafrost in postglacial marine silts above and below tree line was reconstructed using landform analysis, }14{C dating, and palynostratigraphic analysis of peat sections. Results reflect climatic conditions at time of formation and decay. Since 1200 BP, degradation has been dominant, despite cold intervals
