Abstract
The purpose of this study is twofold. First, to describe the nature and occurrence of geomorphic processes affecting slopes in the Skeena Mountains and neighbouring areas. Second, to discuss the significance of the processes to future resource development in the area, and the influence of the latter on the rates and operation of these processes. ... Two major groups of processes are discussed. One group is found in those areas where frost action is the dominant process and includes frost weathering (gelifraction), cryoturbation, solifluction and nivation. Permafrost is also discussed in conjunction with this group since, even though it is not a process, it has considerable influence on the distribution and operation of the other processes. A second group is concerned with rapid or readily observed mass movements, including slope failures and snow avalanches
