Abstract

Documents and reviews palynological evidence of climatic response (if any) to deglacial drainage changes for period from 10 to 8 ka throughout Agassiz--upper Great Lakes region and downstream to Gulf of St Lawrence and Atlantic Ocean. Cooling effect of meltwater drainage suppressed summer warming of surface lake waters and reduced growing season, thus altering nature of vegetation in surrounding land
