Abstract
Reviews literature on occupation of Hudson Strait by late Quaternary ice streams and importance of Hudson Strait as major source for sediments associated with North Atlantic Heinrich events. Discusses bathymetry and bedrock geology, inferred flow regimes, seismic sections and sediment core profiles spanning a number of Heinrich events. Identifies unresolved issues, including mechanism(s) for incorporation into ice stream of huge volumes of carbonate associated with Heinrich events and their transport across a 250-km ice shelf.
