Abstract
Deformation structures record strain associated with compressional, simple shear, and gravitational stresses commonly found in various glacial depositional settings. The nature, scale, and genetic diversity of deformation structures are presented to illustrate how deformation can introduce increased textural heterogeneity within an aquifer system. Deformation zones are then incorporated into a hydrogeologic conceptualization to demonstrate the value of incorporating such features in hydrogeologic investigations.
