Abstract
In an attempt to assist the Region with its Source Protection Plan (SPP) and Long Term Water Strategy, the Ontario Geological Survey has embarked on a project of three-dimensional geologic mapping of the Quaternary sediments that lie within the RMOW. This project is one of several studies currently being undertaken within southern Ontario as part of the Ontario Geological Survey.sgroundwater mapping program; a provincially mandated directive to study groundwater resources within the province. The project is currently in its second year and is scheduled to be completed during the 2004.2005 fiscal year. A summary of the main objectives and work plan for this project, including an overview of the current status of geologic knowledge within the RMOW, can be found in Bajc (2002). The current summary provides an update of the work that has been completed at the time of writing as well as a schedule of tasks to be completed over the next fiscal year. Three main areas of work are currently ongoing as part of the project. These can be summarized as 1) data compilation and standardization; 2) acquisition of new geologic data; and 3) data interpretation, synthesis and presentation. To date, the 3 areas have been paid varying degrees of attention.
