Abstract
This report presents information on the distribution and characteristics of the geological materials forming the area landscape of the Long Point-Port Burwell region along the north central shore of Lake Erie. It first reviews the geological setting of the study area, including the bedrock geology, topography, and drainage, and presents general background on the area's Quaternary geology and stratigraphic framework. Subsequent sections describe the area's geomorphology (including moraines, abandoned shorelines, terraces, and sand dunes), stratigraphy (including paleoecology), glacial history, and applied Quaternary geology (agricultural soils, economic geology, environmental and engineering geology). Appendices include descriptions of selected stratigraphic sections, borehole logs, and data on properties of samples examined in the study.
