Abstract

Postglacial uplift here is extremely rapid (300 m in last 8 ka). Difficult to estimate trends over recent decades. Suggests that ages of trees lying on recently freed surfaces can yield minimum dates for emergence of coastline and can be used to substantiate recent uplift trends projected by }14{C method by providing estimate of maximum rates of shoreline retreat
