Abstract
Buried valley aquifers, like the Brandon Channel Aquifer near Brandon, Manitoba, serve as a significant water supply source in many areas of the Canadian prairies. This aquifer is a complex deposition of sediments within the valley of the Assiniboine River. These deposits consist of well sorted clean sand, gravel, and large boulders, set within a narrow, and deeply cut valley into the Cretaceous shale. This paper will discuss the complex hydrogeology of the Brandon Channel Aquifer, and detail some recent investigations into the supply potential as well as the sustainability of the aquifer
