Abstract
The last three ice-flow movements which affected the Quebec area during the Late Wisconsinan are: a regional ice flow to the southeast associated with the glacial maximum, a second flow to the northeast related to an ice stream in the axis of the St. Lawrence Rive, and a late glacial ice flow to the north. This project was undertaken to assess whether glacial dispersal could be associated with the northward and northeastward ice flows. The stair-step margin between the Canadian Shield and the St. Lawrence Platform permits the distinction of the northeastern and northern components of glacial transport from the main component toward the southeast. Results show clearly that carbonate clasts from the St. Lawrence Platform were transported onto the Canadian Shield. This dispersal is associated with the St. Lawrence ice stream (toward the northeast). The northward movement does not appear to have significantly remobilized the sedimentary load of the glacier.
