Abstract

Evidence of fossil as well as active patterned ground has been found in forested areas some 400 km south of the permafrost zone, in the southern part of Abitibi (Quebec). This paper describes the occurrence of sorted and non-sorted patterned ground and stresses the paleoclimatic and pedologic importance of this feature.
