Abstract

A overview presentation on the impact of weather on glaciers in western Canada, in particular, the role of "pineapple express" tropical moisture plumes which can pump massive amounts of moisture into western North America. These plumes can play a major role in the energy balance and hydrological response of glaciers, and can contribute to hazards such as glacial outburst flooding and ice avalanches.
