Abstract
A set of erosion plots was laid out adjacent to each of the three monitoring facilities of a gauged watershed. Each set of plots comprises three 22.1 m (long) by 4 m (wide)plots designed to test the effects of traditional cropping treatments on soil loss from, primarily, a potato production system in Prince Edward Island (P.E.I.), Canada. Design and calibration of instrumentation for monitoring mass (on an event basis) and rate of runoff and soil loss are described from sample collection of data recording. Special emphasis is placed on operation during the cool seasons which constitute the critical period for erosion in P.E.I.
