Abstract
Three standard tests for determining hydraulic conductivity are applied to several granular aquifers at different scales depending on the volume of porous medium investigated by these tests. Grain size analysis is used for predicting hydraulic conductivity at a small scale, whereas permeability field and pumping tests are applied when considering intermediate and large scales, respectively. This multi-test, multi-scale approach is applied to four different representative unconfined aquifers (Quaternary deposits) located in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region of Quebec in eastern Canada and reveals that there are no significant differences of hydraulic conductivity estimates associated with the testing scale.
