Abstract
Evidence of hydraulic connections between a granular aquifer and a fractured rock aquifer is established on a well field through the analysis of piezometric levels in nested piezometers installed in both a coarse moraine aquifer and a fractured limestone. The results demonstrate the existence of local groundwater exchanges between aquifers, relationships which depend on the connectivity of the granular aquifer to the fracture network of the bedrock aquifer intercepting the granular aquifer above. Some numerical simulation results are also presented to illustrate the consequences of hydraulic connections and to help us understand the groundwater flow impacts of such connections.
