Abstract
Provides a province-wide inventory of forest soil resources in New Brunswick, based on background information on climate, geomorphology, and regolith (parent material). It includes an ecological forest site classification for the province, a review of New Brunswick geomorphology and climate, a review of regolith and plant nutrient supply, a description of the methodology used in compiling the forest soil maps included with the report, and detailed descriptions of forest soil units in five categories: those derived from calcareous and non-calcareous sedimentary rocks, from igneous rocks, from rocks of mixed lithologies, and from undifferentiated parent material. Appendices include outlines of the geomorphologic and climatic regions of New Brunswick and a primer on geology.
