Abstract
Qualitative survey of the karst system in the Wilcox Pass area. Wilcox Pass is a low relief system scoured, developed and influenced by glacial action and weathering. Upper Wilcox karst is an evolving and developing karstic system. Our survey revealed 27 visible karst sinkholes in Upper Wilcox Pass and 8 sinkholes located in Lower Wilcox and outside our study area boundary. The highest elevation sinkholes are located near Nigel Lake and elevation generally declines towards syncline cliff. Mapping Upper Wilcox Pass karst sinkholes yielded a distinct linear feature of an underground conduit. The Pass also plays an important hydrological role in moving water from Nigel Lake to Tangle Creek.
