Abstract
Various geotechnical and geophysical techniques were used in the near-shore zone of the southern Beaufort Sea to obtain a dependable data base on the ground ice distribution and the thermal regime within the sediments. This paper describes results of extensive geotechnical investigations along onshore-offshore transects and evaluates techniques used in detection of permafrost and ground ice.
