Abstract
Features characteristic of polar beaches, including ice-push ridges, ice-contact cusps, shore-ice kettles, residual marks left by melting ice, ice-rafted sediments, and wind features, occur on the beach at Val Jalbert, Lake St. Jean, Quebec. This example shows that the area covered by so-called 'polar beaches' is not restricted to the Arctic and Antarctic regions. Even though the preservation potential of ice-made figures and microrelief is considered low, such sedimentary features, if preserved in favorable circumstances, might aid in interpreting former depositional environments.
