Abstract
The transport of freshwater through the Canadian Arctic Archipelago is believed to be critical to the global meridional overturning circulation. Due to its many narrow but important passages for the freshwater transport, the Canadian Arctic Archipelago is a unique and challenging region for ocean modelling. As part of the ASOF (Arctic- Subarctic Ocean Flux) program, a finite volume ocean model with variable spatial resolution has been run. Different sensitive experiments were designed to study the impact on the freshwater transport to the closing of some of the important straits and to the presence of the tides.
