Abstract
The Cedarvale Well Field in Georgetown, Ontario, extracts groundwater from an aquifer system hosted within late Quaternary sediments infilling a buried bedrock valley. The well field is situated within a modern fluvial valley that contains the main channel of Silver Creek and associated wetlands. The interaction between ground and surface water in the vicinity of the Cedarvale Well Field is complex. This research integrates sedimentology and hydrogeology to examine the geologic framework of the Cedarvale valley, delineate the zone of influence associated with groundwater extraction, and identify potential areas of connection between groundwater and surface water features.
