Abstract
Five glacial-erosional landscapes are evident on Cumberland Peninsula: a plateau of scoured bedrock and fluted drift, a plateau dissected by troughs cut by Laurentide and local ice, a plateau scalloped by cirques, coastal areas scalloped by cirques near or below sea level, and mountains fretted by cirques, aretes, and horns. Morphostratigraphy, relative age-dating by weathering studies, radiocarbon and amino acid dating of raised marine strandlines, stratigraphic relations of end moraines to raised strandlines, and radiocarbon dating of buried soils reveal the ... sequence of events for the southwestern part of the peninsula .
