Abstract
The filling and operation of the Williston Reservoir created by the Bennett Dam in British Columbia in 1967 altered the natural flow patterns of the Peace River, with consequent effects downstream to the Slave River Delta. This report describes results of an investigation into the likely impacts of Peace River flow regulation on the natural progradation of the Slave River Delta into Great Slave Lake. The investigators used a combination of aerial photography from 1946, 1966, 1977, and 1994 in addition to ground truthing to interpret changes in plant assemblage patterns and delta channel geomorphology at selected locations. Collected information aided an assessment of pre- and post-regulation delta growth.
