Abstract
A thin ice body in northern Baffin Island is undergoing rapid recession revealing undisturbed patterned ground features and vegetation. A sample of moss thus exposed has a radiocarbon age of 330 ± 75 years, and supports previous estimates of the occurence of a markedly more nival period in parts of arctic Canada two to three centuries ago.
