Abstract
This study attempts to define the nature and direction of aquifer-peatland exchanges using geochemical indicators in two distinct regions: the Bécancour’s river catchment (Centre-du-Québec) and the Amos area (Abitibi). Peatlands in these regions have the distinction of being lined by sandy deposits that extend laterally under the wetland. Four water sampling campaigns of the peat and underlying mineral will be conducted to characterize the geochemistry of the aquifer-peatland systems and identify the relative contribution of groundwater (through the aquifer) and precipitation (through the peat) to the recharge of the two media.
