Abstract
Three mitigation techniques, an air convection embankment, an embankment with an integrated heat drain and an embankment with gentle slope, have been implemented in the shoulder of the Tasiujaq airfield. The purpose of this study is to validate through testing in real operating conditions, their respective performance. Those techniques increase heat extraction from the soil and thus preserve integrity of permafrost existing under the runway. This paper presents results for the first two years of monitoring.
