Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to determine whether there is a local correspondence between sand content in Labrador Sea sediments and high latitude glacial and non-glacial events on Baffin Island. We present two independent data sets to evaluate this hypothesis. The first is a suite of deep-sea cores taken from the Labrador Sea, whereas the second is a sequence of glacigenic and raised marine sediments from the eastern coast of Baffin Island, N.W.T., Canada .... The importance of our study is that it serves to document the ocean/glacier response of a sensitive and critical sector of the North Atlantic, a sector moreover that surely played an important part in the inception of the Laurentide Ice Sheet
