Abstract
1'250'000 km2 of outcrops of karst rocks and one and half millions of square kms of subcrops of karst rocks is in Canada. Paleokarst evolution has started since the Archean times and the youngest occurrences are of the present origin (connected with glacial recession). Huge Pb-Zn deposits are paleokarst in origin. Numerous are interstratal karsts in evaporitic rocks. Glacial effects upon karstification are summarized.
