Abstract
Describes apparatus and techniques used, and presents and discusses results. Two study areas in northern Quebec were investigated, both at tree-line and with mean annual air temperature of about -5.6degC. Ice-rich permafrost was characterized by high resistivity values and chargeability values close to zero, whereas ice-poor permafrost is characterized by intermediate resistivity and low chargeability. In unfrozen zones, low apparent resistivity and high apparent chargeability values are found. These values permit categorization of different subhorizontal zones in permafrost
