Abstract
In Colchester County, surficial mapping was carried out on two areas of Crown Land in the West St. Andrews area. The areas’ boundary lines were set up in 1958 and 1967. Within the St. Andrews area three basic types of terrain are present. The first is of moss and bog that overlie a bouldery, rocky subsoil consisting of rocks with a slaty lithology. The second, on higher land, consists of gravel bottom brooks, well defined stream channels, bedrock outcrops and boulders. The third type of terrain has a fan like deposit consisting of gravelly till, composed of silt, clay, large clasts and sand. Area feature include: a large sand and gravel deposit in the form of an esker and a large kame terrace on the north side of the brook.
