Abstract
Realizing the importance of the maximum physically possible flood, the Meteorological Branch, Canada Department of Transport and the Meteorological Service of the Department of Natural resources of Quebec jointly undertook this cooperative study of the critical meteorological conditions associated with exceptional floods. This study covers the area near the Chaudiere and St. Francois Rivers and is similar to other studies of areas such as the Manicouagan or the St. John River Basin. It considers only the meteorological aspects of the problem such as rainstorms, snow accumulations, and snowmelt.
