Abstract
The groundwater characterization project of the Bécancour zone watersheds was initiated in April 2009. The approach includes a revised detailed Quaternary map of the area. Geological interpretation of aerial photos and more than 3100 observation sites have been integrated in a GIS to do the mapping. The 3D-model is based on the interpretation of more than 60 stratigraphic sections and more than 1000 boreholes. Apparent resistivity profiles and a series of luminescence dates provide additional data. The main goal of this study of the regional Quaternary architecture is the development of a robust 3D hydrostratigraphic model.
