Abstract
Reports some results of continuing research started in 1966 in the Tombstone district in the Ogilvie Mts and Bear River district in the Wernecke Mts. The one area consists of a stock of igneous intrusives surrounded by metasedimentary rocks, the other lies in a zone of metasediments, consisting of dolomites and slates with minor quartzite. Talus cones are the principal forms below the metasedimentary escarpments in both areas. Talus aprons are most common below the rock walls in Tombstone intrusives. Forms termed protalus rock glaciers occur as horizontal or nearly horizontal extensions of many cones. The variation in cone profiles and its significance are discussed.
