Abstract
We report on new evidence for extensive, pre-Little Ice Age glacier deposits in the headwaters of Homathko River. Several lateral and terminal moraines extend one to several kilometres from cirque basins and delimit ice extent many times greater than glacier extent during the Little Ice Age. A minimum limiting age of 9390 ± 40 14C yrs BP was obtained by radiocarbon datingterrestrial macrofossils preserved in the basal sediments from a lake behind a large terminal moraine situated some 3 km downvalley from Little Ice Age deposits. Work is in progress to further constrain the age of these deposits.
