Abstract
In summer, 1990, a three year, multidisciplinary study was initiated in the north coast of Ellesmere Island (83 N) which is attempting to determine the paleoclimatic significance of thinly bedded lake sediments. One aspect of the project involves studying a 25 sq km watershed to ascertain how hydrologic and sedimentological processes respond to climate, and whether the annual sediment discharge can be predicted on the basis of climate parameters.Meteorological data from the 1990 and 1991 field seasons are discussed in the context of climate on the north coast of Ellesmere Island over the past 40 years.
